Reach Back Engineering
For all aircraft, Airdyne work’s with the aircraft OEM to perform engineering analysis of products relative to the type of platform (MDS) (eg Lockheed C-130E/H and J) to ensure our products are within aircraft parameters. This arrangement has turned out very beneficial for the Government SPO offices reviewing documentation.
This methodology of working with the OEM to ensure government certification is supported in a timely fashion is a cornerstone of the engineering path of Airdyne.
Sub-Contracting
For engineering or production requirements beyond the immediate scope of Airdyne, the company uses a pool of pre-qualified sub-contractors to perform work. In these relationships Airdyne maintains tight control over quality control and compliance with specifications. Received products or services are inspected or reviewed. Airdyne does perform on-site inspection of subcontractors in the performance of select building products or sub-assemblies.
Production
Airdyne maintains two facilities that support production. These are currently producing SABIR AS-7 struts, bubble doors, retraction systems, crashworthy loadmaster and workstation seats, avionics racks, multi-mission pods, sonotube ejector systems.
Careful supply chain management and development of new vendors is an on-going process to ensure quality subcomponents are delivered on time.
Quality Control
Airdyne follows AS-9100, Military/FAA Specifications, and has very robust internal control measures. All products and subcomponents are auditable and have certificates of conformance.
Program Management and Integrated Master Schedules
Airdyne provides program management expertise for a customer’s order and integration to ensure all customer requirements are met.
An example of program management at the top level follows:

Repair, Refurbishment, Overhaul
As a manufacturer we have end to end bench stock, painting facilities, electrical repair and more. Airdyne is now performing this type of work with customers and our existing products. Airdyne routinely provides spares for installed equipment and has already identified recommended bench stock and spare for daily operations and deployed operations in the field. We can provide these kits as a turnkey item ready for use.
Rapid Prototyping, Test Articles
Airdyne has full capability to perform rapid prototyping along with the requisite engineering and analysis to ensure a part or modification will meet aerospace standards. Rapid prototyping also extends to design, analysis and fabrication of new payloads and electrical requirements. Test Articles required for destructive and nondestructive testing are produced in accordance with drawings and are production representative articles.
Technology Retrofitting, Insertion and Transition
Airdyne currently performs these activities from initial design of SABIR products through the modular design process. This allows retrofit in the future to be simpler and more cost effective for customers. As an example the AS-4 Multi-Mission pod is designed to allow sensor changes between bays to include adding new sensors to replace obsolete models. This saves time and cost for customers who already purchased pods. Other SABIR products allow easy retrofit and technology insertion do to modularity and the fact they are not permanently attached to the aircraft.
Documentation, Manuals, Training
As the OEM, Airdyne produces factory manuals for all products and many are written similar to USAF technical orders to facilitate and easy transition to actual T.O.s. Airdyne can produce actual military technical orders. Airdyne performs factory training of all products directly to users or using “train the trainer” methodologies. Airdyne training follows the ISD concept.
Flight Test Support
Airdyne begins flight test support at the beginning of each program through the use of our standard compliance program methodology. This ensures all required documentation, design, engineering and production, meets specifications and documentation is prepared IAW what the USAF SPO or NAVAIR requires. Airdyne participates in the planning and execution of each flight test as subject matter experts to minimize Government program office requirements with the SPO. In essence Airdyne performs the hard work so the customer can focus on the end results and requirements.
